The AQ1202

Hot Chips 2011 - Networking

The 40nm AQ1202 is the industry’s highest performance, lowest power dual-port 10GBASE-T PHY

With power consumption as low as a couple Watts per port for intra-rack connectivity (what we call the “Data Center mode”), and 4.0W per port for 100m of Cat6A/Cat7 cable, this new generation of PHYs from Aquantia proves once again the technical superiority and advantage of the MMSP architecture.

In a 25mm package, the AQ1202 is the highest performance, lowest power Dual-port 10GBASE-T in the industry, which makes it ideally suited for both high-density Ethernet switches, LAN-on-Motherboard (LOM) servers and NIC cards. LOM implementations of this device, in particular, will play a critical role in the Romley generation of servers, where 10GBASE-T is expected to rapidly expand and drive the shift from Gigabit to 10Gigabit Ethernet.
